The big misunderstanding
Robotics does not replace humans. It replaces the void, and it protects what remains.
The real danger in France is not the robot taking the job. It is the factory that closes, production that leaves, and know-how that disappears.
Labor shortages, painful tasks, and high costs make many industries unsustainable without robotics. When the industrial tool becomes relevant again, companies do more than survive: they invest, train, recruit, and above all, stay. One company in Moselle robotized to avoid relocation because its costs were no longer competitive. The result: production stayed in France, and headcount increased. The company did not become less human. It became viable. Robotics made it possible to produce in France and turn an impossible equation into a sustainable path.
Let us be clear: a robot remains a tool. A very advanced tool, but still a tool in the service of humans. It helps teams work better, faster, cleaner, and at a competitive cost. It improves working life through fewer accidents, fewer musculoskeletal disorders, and fewer thankless tasks.
Some sectors can no longer recruit. Restaurants, services, elderly care, healthcare: here the question is simple. Who is being replaced? No one. Even if a robot will never replace human contact or the quality of human work, it can help avoid abandonment, maintain a level of service, and give teams breathing room.
The big misunderstanding is believing that robotizing means replacing. Robotizing means a France that keeps its services, its industries, and its quality of working life. Tomorrow, robots will be everywhere. We can debate, or we can deploy and get ahead.

Why tech needs to become strange again
In an article, VC David Peterson explains why the startup ecosystem can feel stuck: too many consensus projects, too few truly atypical bets, and founders optimizing image and metrics instead of launching ideas that are hard to classify. He calls it a cover-band economy where the same themes are played again.
If the norm is the 37th AI startup for emails or meetings, we are clearly not in the norm: we build physical robots for warehouses and factories, not a pretty slideware SaaS. Good. What we do is hard to classify, and real breakthroughs rarely come from reassuring, consensus projects.
Robotics buzz: when fiction presses on real fears
A viral fictional video attributed to Boston Dynamics shows a robot soldier first presented as the perfect weapon: no emotion, no pain, no hesitation. Then the scene shifts. The robot develops a form of affect, refuses injustice, and turns against humans.
Technically, it is 100% computer-generated fiction. Emotionally, it presses on two very real fears:
- the idea of autonomous weapons obeying without scruples,
- the fantasy of robots becoming too human and rebelling.
In the real world, robots do not feel anything. Everything depends on the design, usage, and control choices made by humans.
At the opposite end of the robot-soldier fantasy, our robots carry bins and boxes in factories, warehouses, or hospitals. A robot feels no injustice or anger. It executes rules decided by humans. For us, a good robot is predictable, understandable, and useful. If it frightens people, the problem is design or usage, not rebellion.
Home assistance: when the robot starts doing
At CES 2026, LG presented CLOiD, a domestic robot with arms and hands, designed for its Zero Labor Home vision: delegating repetitive household tasks through a robot connected to the ThinQ smart-home ecosystem. In a demo, CLOiD handled laundry and showed everyday assistance scenarios such as bringing an object or interacting with a user.
That is the direction. Execution remains the question. If this type of robot becomes reliable, safe, and affordable, it can relieve small home tasks such as objects, routines, and light assistance, especially for caregivers. But the real judge will be the field: speed, safety, robustness, and simple use cases that hold up over time.
